Welcome to the Long Xi professional forum. Please remember at all times that we are sharing our temple with you and refrain from inappropriate conversation or behavior.
Limited Areas are Viewable as a Guest
All Areas Viewable except moderator and SOTD areas as a Forum Member
The Sons of the Dragon Temple, as a faith based organization, trains students for discipleship and priesthood working to establish an open Western Sanctuary as a repository and resource center with event features.
This forum is a virtual extension of SOTD (Long Xi) knowledge, training and activities.
This starting forum is where anyone may consider contemplative life, monasticism and their calling towards higher life - or just enjoy gong fu and something different from the competition and public forums.
Because Western history and traditon have given us variant expressions such as "lay monks" and practitioners who do not consider their selves religious at all, (beyond gong gu it's self) this forum has open features for anyone and a closed life and features for members pursuing their vocation (calling) or - monks.
Membership in this forum does not imply membership in the Sons of the Dragon.
SOTD membership for distance monks is an intentional and guided path towards full immersion and sacred life. Vocations should familiarize their selves with principal site material and join the Candidates forum.
SOTD is a religious, fraternal, membership organization Convened for religious purposes and member advocacy.
In regular terms, that means we are gathered to cultivate virtue which we do through gong fu, nongfu & daifu
Levels of Membership are
Guest - Only the general public content forums are visible to guest visitors.
Forum member - may observe and participate in forums visible to regular members and the public.
Lay member - may participate in any open exercises, classes and have access to facilities
Vocation/Career member - full membership in SOTD is the path toward immersion and mastery
Instructors and Managers - the forums are moderated by instructors and temple affairs managers.
Shao Lin (Daoist) monasticism is a solitary non-evangelical priesthood. It's members may function as clergy in regular customs such as visiting the ill and performing marriages according to the laws and customs of the place in which they reside. However the primary ministry of shao lin is example and the Sons of the Dragon Shao Lin is generally modeled after Confucian daoism though the influences of lao tzu and buddha are also present. All members are expected to find and follow their calling after the way of their aptitudes and talents. No member of SotD will claim their religious focus is superior to any other member's.
